Brooke and Genevieve met, where else? IN A THEATRE. Together, they have worked as improvisers, storytellers and actors for the stage, television and film. They bring their love of teaching, performance and community to Improv and Storytelling For Business, in hopes that others, outside of the arts world, can benefit from the work as much as they have.
Brooke Totman is an actor, writer, teacher and co-owner of The Shoebox Theatre where she teaches acting, comedy, improv and public speaking classes. Brooke holds a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Oregon and trained at the world-renowned improv and sketch comedy company, The Groundlings, in Los Angeles—eventually becoming a member of their Sunday Company. During her time in L.A. she appeared on numerous television series and was a featured cast member on the sketch comedy show, MADtv.
Brooke has led team building and creativity workshops for clients including Morgan Stanley, Mercedes Benz and Prudential, among others.
Genevieve graduated with a Theatre Arts degree from Western Washington University. Since graduating, she has worked in Los Angeles and Portland, carving out a career as an actor, writer and storyteller—on stage and the small screen.
Selected acting, writing and storytelling credits include: Leverage (TNT), Portlandia (IFC), Sketch Comedy Groups: Night Bus, Analysis Paralysis, and the comedy short Blackout Betty (producer, writer, actor).
She is a three-time veteran storyteller for the nationally acclaimed series Get Mortified, a guest storyteller for Planned Parenthood’s Benefit Fundraiser It’s Not Me, It’s You, a featured performer in Portland’s Fertile Ground Festival and many other live storytelling events.
Genevieve teaches Storytelling classes at the Shoebox Theatre where she also hosts a monthly storytelling show.
